Following 24 years in leadership positions at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the United States Peace Corps, Ronald (Ronnie) Edwards joined the CDP this September as Chief Financial and Operations Officer.
Ronnie is a seasoned financial manager with extensive grants oversight experience. He has a strong track record identifying and remedying financial vulnerabilities, boosting transparency and accountability, meeting reporting and compliance requirements, and ensuring good stewardship of financial resources.
Ronnie led efforts to perform pre-award grant assessments for non-government organizations in numerous countries and established in-house training programs for project managers across dozens of USAID missions. While in Uganda, he worked with nonprofit organizations to digitize financial services, reducing waste and corruption, lowering costs and improving operational efficiency.
In addition to holding a Master’s in National Security Strategy from the National Defense University and a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from the University of Kentucky, Ronnie is fluent in Spanish and speaks basic Russian and Bahasa Indonesia. A Peace Corps Volunteer in Bolivia in the mid-1990s, Ronnie has since enjoyed volunteering in various capacities, including as President of a U.S. Embassy community association in Russia, and helping at-risk youth in El Salvador.
Ronnie and his wife have two sons in high school. In his free time, he enjoys riding his bike, searching for sea glass, and playing with his dog Tiger.
