Lower Cape’s Community Development Partnership Announces Planned Retirement of CEO Jay Coburn
Orleans, MA – October 10, 2025 — The Community Development Partnership (CDP) announced today that Jay Coburn, President & CEO since 2012, will conclude his tenure on June 30, 2026. This planned transition follows more than 13 years of dedicated leadership that has strengthened the organization and expanded its impact across the Lower and Outer Cape.
During Coburn’s tenure, the CDP has grown into the region’s leading advocate for affordable housing and small business development. Under his leadership, CDP tripled its staff, diversified sources of funding, doubled the organization’s budget, and significantly increased its reach and effectiveness. Highlights include the creation of a pipeline of more than 1,500 affordable and attainable homes in 30 projects across the Lower and Outer Cape, $2.5 million in financing to nearly 120 small businesses, and the launch of innovative initiatives such as Project 365, which engages year-round residents in local housing and community advocacy.
“Serving this community has been the honor of my professional life,” said Coburn. “I’m deeply grateful to our staff, board, donors, and partners for taking this journey with me to help our community thrive. Together, we’ve built something truly meaningful. I leave CDP strong and ready for its next chapter.”
Among his many achievements, Coburn also guided the development of the Residences at Lawrence Hill, a 46-unit affordable and attainable housing project in Wellfleet, and led the creation of CDP’s new strategic plan, ensuring a strong foundation for the future.
“Jay’s unwavering commitment and vision have changed the lives of countless families,” said Carole Ridley, Chair of CDP’s Board of Directors. “Because of his leadership, the CDP is financially sound, staffed by an exceptional team, and trusted by the community. We are well-positioned to build on his legacy and continue advancing our mission.”
Following his tenure at the CDP, Coburn plans to share his expertise as a coach and consultant, supporting nonprofit and community leaders in advancing their missions.
Looking ahead, the CDP is strong, stable, and poised for continued success. With a dedicated staff, engaged Board of Directors, and the strong support of partners, the CDP is well-prepared to carry its important work forward. The organization’s programs and services will continue uninterrupted, and the CDP is embarking on a new strategic plan to strengthen its initiatives and investment in community leadership.
