Fran Schofield

Fran Schofield brings decades of cross-sector experience, education, and perspective to her life, work, and nonprofit endeavors. A Massachusetts native, Fran earned a B.A. from Mount Holyoke College before pursuing a master's degree in landscape architecture from Harvard University's Graduate School of Design. Her professional experience in public and private sectors includes work in environmental affairs, community development, land planning, commercial real estate development, and residential real estate sales, where she has assumed project management, research, marketing, and strategic communications roles.

On Cape Cod, Fran has served on several boards and committees for nonprofit and civic organizations. She has been a board member of the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce, Pleasant Bay Community Boating, and the Cape Cod Climate Change Collaborative, which she co-founded and co-led for over six years. Fran is a recent past member of the Brewster Vision Planning Committee and a current board member of the Friends of Pleasant Bay and the Cape & Islands Democratic Council.

Since 2004, Fran has championed democratic and environmental causes and been an effective fundraiser for political candidates and incumbents at all levels of government. In 2019, she was named "Democrat of the Year" by the Cape & Islands Democratic Council in recognition of her outstanding contributions to democratic ideals and community. In 2023, she received a "Commonwealth Heroine" award for her foundational role with the Cape Cod Climate Change Collaborative and exceptional contributions to the region.

Fran resides in Brewster, where she and her late husband Paul moved in 1990. Together, they raised two sons and a Golden Retriever. In her free time, Fran enjoys walking, biking, kayaking, sailing, golf, and reading.
