Who We Are

Katie Castagno

Katie is the Director of the Land-Sea Interaction Program at the Center for Coastal Studies in Provincetown, MA. Her research explores the intersections of coastal resilience, salt marsh restoration, and sediment transport.

Katie holds a Ph.D. in Geological Oceanography from the MIT/Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Joint Program, an M.A. in Marine Affairs from the University of Rhode Island, and a B.A. in Environmental Geoscience from Smith College.

Before joining the Center for Coastal Studies, Katie worked as an environmental educator and elementary school science teacher across Cape Cod. She is also a singer-songwriter whose music draws inspiration from people, places, and geological phenomena.

Katie lives in Eastham with her partner, Natalia, and their rescue greyhound, in an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) built on her parents’ property with support from the CDP.
