
Marsha Allgeier
Marsha retired in 2015 as Deputy County Manager after 37 years with Arlington County, Virginia. She began her career there as a community development planner, later serving for a decade as supervisor of neighborhood planning. Marsha spent 17 years with the Arlington County Department of Human Services—an integrated public health, social services, and behavioral health agency—becoming its director in 2001. She then became Deputy County Manager for the County of Arlington in 2005, serving in that role until 2015.
Her board service has included the Northern Virginia Health Foundation (supporting health access for uninsured and underinsured residents), Doorways (providing shelter and services related to domestic violence and sexual assault), and Culpeper Garden (offering housing for low-income seniors).
Before joining Arlington County, Marsha held planning roles with the Town of Chapel Hill, a Chapel Hill-based consulting firm, and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in Washington, D.C.
After moving to Orleans full-time in 2018, Marsha served as the part-time Affordable Housing Coordinator for the Town from November 2020 to June 2024.
She holds a Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a B.A. from Brown University. Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, Marsha and her husband Peter have two grown children and three grandchildren. They purchased their home in Orleans in 2013 after many summers spent in Wellfleet.
