David Koven
David Koven has worked as a developer, housing program administrator, planner, and community organizer over the past 40 years and has provided productive consulting services to clients seeking to develop or invest in affordable housing projects since 1994. David's primary clients are nonprofits but has also worked with for-profit developers, equity investors, and public sector lenders. David’s scope of services can range from initial feasibility studies and site assessments to long-term comprehensive project management. He has completed projects ranging from six to 300 units, for a total of about 3,000 units, both preservation and new construction.
David has utilized most HUD programs, many state loan and equity resources, as well as frequent commercial lender participation. Throughout his career, he has crossed paths with over 50 nonprofits, the majority of whom are community development corporations. David and his wife Diane Gordon own a home in Wellfleet and are proud that their two children have also chosen careers in public service. Although he left Brooklyn for New England in his early 20’s, 50 years later David thinks he still has a sense of humor.
